CONTACT FOR AVAILABILITY

Playing Robin Hood in The Fairytale of Church Street at the Cockpit Theatre - Directed by Kat Gardner and Dave Wybrow

Street Performing by the London Eye, licensed by the South Bank Centre - regularly through the upcoming months

"Well-skilled in physical comedy; their highly exaggerated movements and expressions circus-like in the execution... Godden gets many of the silly yet witty remarks, that work successfully in adding a different dimension to the third actor."

- Christine Stanton, The Reviews Hub

"Artie Godden is a brilliant practitioner. His training as a clown really shines through. His facilitation features humour, playfulness as well as focus and precision. His dynamism as a teacher, his in depth knowledge of Shakespeare's texts and his passion for the craft of acting are equally on display. Students leave his workshops inspired, engaged and more deeply connected to the subject matter."

- Arne Pohlmeier, freelance theatre director and Education Practitioner at Shakespeare's Globe.

Artie Godden is a multi-disciplinary theatre artist.

Working predominantly as a theatre actor, he specialises in clown and physical comedy.

He has toured extensively with Olivier award-winning director Sally Cookson's We're Going on A Bear Hunt, creates and devises clown shows for cabarets and theatre, writes and performs music, and teaches workshops across the UK.

After completing a BA in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Bristol, he went on to study with clown masters from across the globe at the Nouveau Clown Institute, in Barcelona and renowned École Philippe Gaulier, in Paris.

He has worked with theatre and circus companies including: Kenny Wax Family Entertainment, Bristol Old Vic, Bristol Physical Theatre Project, Full Tilt-Aerial, Bassline Circus, Onsen Presents, Bath Spa University, Bristol University, Bristol Playwrights Collective, Godden and Barnes, Sasswagen Collective and The Three

Inch Fools.

Also having acted in film for over a decade, his screen credits include: A Line-up Unlike Any Other (Amazon/Sassy Films - dir. Floris Ramaekers) Good Things Come (Skytail Productions), Sleeping Rough (Pastles Productions) and Ann Rolls Green (Evolution Producing House), Alan (dir. Sam Toocaram), Hammer Home (Raspberry Films), The B Team (Bournemouth Film School), Two Moons (dir. James Bachmann/ Mathis van den Berg), Laugh 'Til You Cry (Bristol StudioSpace), The Mugging (Northern Film School), Millle Feuille (Hyunjee Song) and Room for One More (dir. Adam Parsons).

A Chortle Student Comedy Award semi-finalist, he devises clown theatre, and is the taller half of the comedy duo Godden and Barnes, which received 5 stars on the Cardiff Fringe for their debut show, #Live Show 1.

He has taught theatre and comedy workshops with numerous organisations, and has been mentored by Arne Pohlmeier (Shakespeare's Globe, The Watermill, Two Gents Productions) in teaching Shakespeare to young people.

Also an accomplished musician, he writes under the alias King Uther’s Sons, and plays music in venues across Europe.

He recently worked with Onsen Presents on their debut show, [INSERT PLAY], a meta-clown comedy farce, bringing his broad clowning background and dramaturgy experience with Bristol Old Vic into the process, alongside playing Steve the Sound Desk Guy.

This Christmas he will be playing Robin Hood in The Fairytale of Church Street at the Cockpit Theatre.
